Before The Force Awakens

This story begins in the Summer of 1977. I was 6 years old and somehow missed all the build up to a movie that was making big headlines. We were visiting family in Massachusetts and someone suggested going to a movie. I had no idea what to expect but the movie I saw that day consumed my life for the rest of my childhood. If it isn't clear by now the movie was "Star Wars - A new Hope". I had all the toys, action figures, ships, you name my friends or me had it and that was all we did.
Obviously the two movies that followed were just as amazing. The Empire Strikes back was  where Luke learns how to use the force and that the evil Darth Vader is his father. In Return of the Jedi Luke tries to redeem his father while also destroying the Empire. In the end Vader saves Luke from the Emperor and turns back to good but dies of his injuries. The good guys have won the day again.

The prequel trilogy was good but didn't hold the same magic for me as I was in my late 20's when they came out. Don't get me wrong, I loved many parts of those 3 movies it just didn't feel the same.

When it was first announced that finally the third trilogy was going to be made I was not very enthused. I didn't want more of what 1-3 were and thought that's what Disney and JJ would bring. The more trailers I saw the more excited I became. I was sold after seeing JJ on TV talking about using more people in costumes, and models and less CGI than the prequels.

I was not disappointed in The Force Awakens at all. I loved the look of it, the feel of it. I loved seeing all the characters I fell in love with as a 6 year old boy. It was simply amazing and I can't wait for the 2 follow up movies.

I have some theories about Rey and other things but they are for another blog.

May the Force be with you

I need to clarify that I loved the prequels but wasn't a fan of the over used CGI and some of the acting
